Personal Information:
Example: When you sign up for an account, we may ask for your name, email address, phone number and native language. This information helps us tailor your experience, such as recommending specific pronunciation lessons based on your language background.
Device Information:
Example: When you access our app, we automatically collect data such as your IP address, device type (e.g., iPhone, Android), and operating system version. This helps us optimize the app for your device and troubleshoot any issues.
Interaction Data:
Example: As you use the BoldVoice app, we track your progress on lessons, the time you spend on the app, and the scores you obtain in exercises. This data helps us provide feedback, suggest areas for improvement, and enhance your learning experience.
Audio Data:
Example: When you actively use the app to practice pronunciation, we store your voice recordings to provide you instant feedback and a history of your pronunciation over time.
Use of Information
Your personal information is used for the following purposes:
To Provide Services: To fulfill your requests and deliver the services you have asked for.
To Improve Services: To enhance the functionality and user experience of our services.
To Communicate: To notify you about updates, respond to inquiries, and send relevant information related to our services. If opted-in, we may also use your phone number for promotional communications such as announcements of new features, special events, and other information we believe you will find valuable.
Additionally, by starting a free trial or subscribing through Apple, you are freely consenting us to share your personal data with Apple to assist in reviewing app refund requests. If you would like to access or delete your personal data related to consumption information, you may submit requests directly to Apple by visiting privacy.apple.com.
Data Retention and Protection
We retain your information only for as long as necessary. We protect the data we store using commercially acceptable measures to prevent loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
Voice Sample Collection, Storage, and User RightsBoldVoice collects and stores voice samples to provide pronunciation feedback, enhance your learning experience, and improve our machine learning models. These voice samples are securely stored and may be retained as part of our records. If your voice samples are stored in a format that can be personally identifiable, you have the right to request access to or deletion of this data. To make such a request, please email us at
support@boldvoice.com. We will process your request within 28 business days, in accordance with applicable data privacy laws.
If you reside in a jurisdiction with additional data privacy rights (e.g., GDPR or CCPA), you may also have the right to request details about how your data is processed, request data portability, or restrict certain processing activities. Please include your specific request in your email so we can assist you appropriately.
Additionally, if you wish to opt out of future collection of voice samples, you may do so by disabling voice-related features in the BoldVoice app. Please note that this may limit the functionality of certain services.
BoldVoice Apps in ChatGPTThis section applies to BoldVoice Pronunciation and Accent Oracle by BoldVoice when used in ChatGPT, which require no BoldVoice account.
Data collected: the text you practice, your voice recording (sent only when you stop recording), the results we generate from it, and technical data such as IP address, browser and device information, and time zone. We also log app usage events (such as a card opening or a recording finishing, with no recording or text) under the anonymized user ID that ChatGPT provides for your account. That ID does not tell us your name, email or ChatGPT account details.
Purposes: to score your recording and show your result, to let ChatGPT read your result when you ask it to, to open your full result on our website when you follow its link, to count how many people use the apps and how often they return, to prevent abuse and enforce usage limits, to maintain and improve our services, and as described in Voice Sample Collection above.
Recipients: service providers that host, process, analyze or monitor this data on our behalf, and OpenAI when ChatGPT reads your result at your request.
Retention: results can be read in ChatGPT for 24 hours. A result link opens your result on our website for 90 days and anyone with the link can view it. Recordings, results and associated technical data are kept until you request deletion. Usage events, which contain no recordings or text, are kept to measure how the apps are used.
Your controls: your voice recording is not sent until you stop recording or its time limit ends it, and you can cancel a recording before it is sent. Opening a card sends the text you practice and usage information. To delete your data, ask ChatGPT to delete your BoldVoice data; it deletes your recordings, results and result links right away.
Sharing of Information
We do not share your personally identifying information publicly or with third parties, except in the following circumstances:
Legal Requirements:
Example: If we are required by law to disclose your information in response to a court order or legal process, we will do so. This might occur in cases where law enforcement agencies request data to investigate illegal activities.
With Your Consent:
Example: If you opt-in to a feature that allows you to share your progress with a language tutor or a friend, we will share the necessary information only with the individuals you have specified.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
Bot protection: Our web games (boldvoice.com/games and Soundle) use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated bots. It runs invisibly and collects limited technical signals, such as your IP address and browser characteristics, which Cloudflare processes only to protect our site from abuse. See Cloudflare's

Security checks: Our mobile app uses security services from Apple and Google to confirm that it is running unmodified on a genuine device. We store an identifier for your installation and the result of these checks with your account, and use them only for security and to prevent fraud and abuse.
Your Rights
You have the following rights over your personal data:
Access and Correction: You can request access to or correction of your personal information.
Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal data.
Withdrawal of Consent: You can withdraw consent for data processing at any time, where applicable.
